Oat Rice Philly Rolls
(Oat Rice Philly Rolls)
Ingredients
- 6 Cups of Water
- 2 Tablespoons of Sugar

¼ Cup of Rice Wine Vinegar
- 2 Cups of Oat Rice
- 1 Teaspoon of Kosher Salt
- 4 Sheets of Nori
For the Filling:
- 1 Package of Imitation Crab
- 4 Tablespoons of Cream Cheese
- 1 Orange/Red Pepper (Sliced)
- ¼ Cucumber (Thinly Sliced)
- Pickled Ginger
- Wasabi

Cooking Instructions:
Bring water and the NorthernEdge® Oat Rice to a boil. Simmer on medium heat for 12-15 minutes (depending on desired texture. Strain and rinse the Oat Rice and allow to cool.
At the same time, in a small sauce pot, combine the rice wine vinegar, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil while stirring, then turn it off and allow to cool. Once the Oat Rice is dry, combine with the rice wine vinegar mixture.
Filling: Combine all of the ingredients and mix well.
Constructing of the roll: Lay out the nori sheet on your rolling mat with the rough side up. Place a thin layer of Oat Rice on the nori, covering about 2/3 of the sheet. Place your filling across the sheet, about 1/3 of the way in, and roll really tightly. Slice into bite size portions and serve with pickled ginger and wasabi on the side.

How to Cook Oat Rice!

Decide on how many servings you need
Think of NorthernEdge® Oat Rice as 1 box of Kraft dinner! One cup of raw oat rice would make 4 servings.

Lets get cooking!
Add one cup of NorthernEdge® Oat Rice to three cups of water into a pot and cover with a lid.

Boil That Baby!
Turn on to high, once it comes to a boil turn down to medium heat.

But for how long? – Sticky Rice
If you prefer a more-sticky texture, the total cook time of the oat rice should not exceed 20 minutes (starting once you turned on the element), and the rice does not need to be rinsed.

But for how long? – Loose Kernels
If you would like to have a more traditional texture to your oat rice, the total cook time of the oat rice should not exceed 15 minutes (starting once you turned on the element), and the oat rice can be rinsed with warm water.
